What is BaZi?
BaZi, or Four Pillars of Destiny, is a Chinese astrological system that maps the elemental energy present at the moment of your birth. It breaks your birth date and time into four pillars, Year, Month, Day, and Hour, each built from a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch. Together, they point to your dominant elements, your Day Master (a kind of anchor point in the chart), and patterns worth noticing in your personality, career, and relationships.
The Five Elements
Wood

Do I need my exact birth time for BaZi?
Yes, ideally. Your birth time determines your Hour Pillar, which factors into your overall reading. If you don’t know your exact time, noon is a reasonable estimate, though the Hour Pillar specifically will be less precise.
Is BaZi the same as Chinese zodiac?
They’re related but not the same. Your Chinese zodiac animal comes from your birth year alone. BaZi uses your full birth date and time to calculate four pillars instead of one, giving a much more detailed and individual elemental profile.
